As most of you may be aware, today was the first day all 18 holes have been open this year! It has been a very long and tedious process and we thank you for your patience with us. The weather affected many areas of the course, resulting in the whole course being closed for several days (even weeks) at a time at some points.
The greens staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the course is kept in the very best condition possible, thus meaning there are still areas that remain cordoned off, including areas where grounds are under repair. It is to be expected with the amount of rain we have had recently that some areas may still remain quite soggy, however, the general response from those that played all 18 holes were extremely positive.
Having just completing a round, last year's Captain, Dan Duthie, and three others spoke with me. They all agreed on how brilliant it is to see the entire course open once again, and acknowledge the incredible work David and the rest of the greens team have done under such difficult circumstances. We spoke about the 8th hole, as that hole in particular always suffers the most. It is still rather wet, however they found it to have not been much of an issue, as these areas are blocked off anyway. Overall, their comments on the playing conditions of today's round were that; "the greens are particularly good given the conditions, as were the bunkers". The four of them also wanted to thank the kitchen staff for their superb Full English Breakfast this morning which they thoroughly enjoyed.
I’m sure we can all agree it is great to see the full course open yet again. I took to the course for the first time today to capture some photos. Unfortunately, they were only taken on a phone, so apologies on the poor quality. It was bitterly cold, and the overcast sky did not make for pretty shots, although you can get some idea of the course condition. We hope everyone that had a game today really enjoyed their round!
